Posting guidelines for employers

Caribbean Hotel Jobs works because job seekers can trust what they read here. These guidelines explain what you can post, how to get good applicants, and what we remove. They are part of our terms of use.
What you can post
- Real, open jobs in hospitality in the Caribbean: hotels, resorts, villas, guest houses, restaurants, bars, spas, dive and watersports operators, event companies, tour operators and cruise or yacht hospitality.
- Full-time, part-time, seasonal, contract and internship roles.
- One job per listing. If you are hiring for the same role in two places, post it twice.
The rules
- Never ask applicants for money. Not for applying, interviews, training, uniforms, medicals, travel, visas or work permits. Listings that ask for money are removed and the account is closed.
- The job must be real and open now. Close listings when the job is filled. Listings close automatically after 60 days unless you renew them.
- Say who the employer is. Use your real business name. Recruitment agencies must say they are an agency, name the type of employer, and hold any licence the law requires where they recruit (in Jamaica, for example, recruitment agencies must be licensed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security).
- Be honest about pay and conditions. If you show pay, it must be the real range. Housing, meals, transport, service charge and work permit support must be described as they really are, including any deductions.
- No discrimination. Do not ask for a particular age, sex, race, religion, nationality, marital status or appearance unless the law requires it for that job. You can ask for things the job really needs, such as experience, languages, certificates or the right to work.
- No misleading listings. No commission-only sales disguised as hotel jobs, no "pay to train" schemes, no listings that collect CVs for jobs that do not exist.
- Respect applicants' data. Use applications only to consider people for your jobs. Do not share or sell them or add people to marketing lists.
How to get good applicants
- Show the pay. Pay is the first thing most job seekers look for. A clear range with the period (per hour, week or month) and the currency gets better applicants.
- Fill in the benefits. Staff housing, meals, transport, service charge, uniforms, health insurance and work permit support are all filters job seekers use.
- Say who can apply. For example: "Jamaican nationals and CARICOM skilled nationals" or "Work permit provided for the right candidate".
- Write plainly. A short paragraph about the job, a list of duties and a list of what you need. Avoid long blocks of capital letters.
- Reply quickly on WhatsApp. Applicants can see their application status. A quick message, even "Thanks, we will reply by Friday", builds your reputation.
Verified employers
We add a "Verified" tick when we have checked that your business is real and registered, and spoken to someone there. To ask for verification, email hello@caribbeanhoteljobs.com from your business email address with your business registration details.
What happens if a listing breaks the rules
We may edit small problems (for example, a wrong island), ask you to fix a listing, hide it, or remove it. Serious or repeated problems, including any request for money from applicants, lead to the account being closed. If you think we made a mistake, email hello@caribbeanhoteljobs.com.
Report a listing
If you see a listing that breaks these rules, email hello@caribbeanhoteljobs.com with the link. Job seekers can read how to stay safe.
